Cristol Marginalizes the USS Liberty and Her Crew at Every Turn

Master USS Liberty Apologist, self proclaimed "expert"

The self described “Naval aviator…with Wings of Gold®” Ahron Cristol will tell you in his discredited out of print screed “The Liberty Incident” aka ‘The USS Liberty Apologist Manual” what an astute ‘expert’ he is on the June 8, 1967 deliberate attack by Israel. Let’s look at another Cristol report of  ‘expertise’. Break out the clown make up.

IMO, Cristol doesn’t get any more covertly dishonest or was as disrespectful  of the USS Liberty crew and efforts than this:

Pg. 71-72 Chapter 6, ‘In the Aftermath’;  “The USS  Liberty Apologist Manual” aka The Liberty Incident.  Ahron (who was never ever there) writes craptacularily:

“Lieutenant Junior Grade Paul E. Tobin, [Navy '63] the engineering officer of the Davis came aboard and supervised the the damage control and engineering repairs on the Liberty….The uninjured men (and some with minor injuries) remained on the ship and assisted with the salvage operations. …After seven hours of damage control and repair under Tobin’s direction, his men from the Davis and the remaining Liberty crew working together…the ship was righted and stabilized.  The Davis engineers together with the engineering staff of the Liberty then went to work on the ship’s steam plant to see if the ship could sail on her own power….Lieutenant Junior Grade Tobin was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in bringing the Liberty safely to port.”

(Note Ahron lists Tobin  achievements and retiring with Rear Admiral rank and as Oceanographer of the Navy in his book’s footnotes.  Golden and Scott…who?)

Ahron Jay Cristol never once mentioned any Liberty engineering officers or  crew who kept the ship afloat,  who through heroic efforts prevented it from sinking and still managed to keep USS Liberty underway (abet slowly) for 17 hours before USS Davis ever even  showed up.   Even Tobin’s official Navy biography makes no such claims.  Not  one mention of  Liberty Engineering Officer, third in command on USS Liberty  Lt.  George Golden or Ensign John Scott who both received the Silver Star for their efforts in saving Liberty from sinking.

No one (Nor I) minimizes the USS Davis, USS America, USS Papago, etc.  efforts in any way.   I just have a problem with a dickhead like Cristol that a Lt. j.g. gets accolades and who  “supervised ” and “got the ship safely into port” with George  Golden,  a WW2 veteran of Japanese kamikaze attacks who with his men miraculously kept the ship underway/afloat  well before Tobin showed up and who continually monitored the engine room while John Scott,  lead on damage control teams  which allowed Tobin and Davis to even have a mission.  Despite Israel’s best effort to the contrary.

Then again, what do your expect from Ahron Cristol who was never there and whose “expertise’ as an agent/apologist for Israel I cannot refute..
