The Loss Of Liberty (USS Liberty Cover-Up)

Remember the USS Liberty. We let Israel get away with murder for at best political expediency. God forbid should other reasons exist.  The USS Liberty attack was the cornerstone and sunshine and transparency are not allowed and cannot be permitted.  How else can anyone explain it?  Why do they fear  an accounting of an “accident” as they have insisted for 40+ years yet never proven?   The official version is nonsense, cannot stand scutiny at any level no matter how many times they repeat the ‘Big Lie’. and fraud books and Israeli First apologists say so like Oren,  Cristol or Weeks.

The need to perpetuate the cover up has now surpassed the murders of June 8th, 1967 altogether. Either that or we just do what the State of Israel tells us to do. We do that now.  Can you imagine the US government being shown that it deliberately colluded in a 40+ cover-up?  Shades of  Gulf of Tonkin or Tuskegee Experiments!

Ask any Congressperson or Senator or candidate for the office if they support and will work for an investigation by Congress on the Israel attack of the USS Liberty.  It’s the ultimate litmus test of their real worth and intentions. Leadership or “more “Go along to get along” or re-elected. Their answer or non-answer or avoidance will pretty much tell you just who they are beholden to. It’s that simple and 40 pieces of silver is much more politically expedient than the truth and the courage it would take. There is no statute of limitations on murder.  There’s the Democrats, Republicans and the  ‘Israel First’ Party that control Congress and if you don’t think so then bathe in your subservience and endless wars, apologias and collusion.  They are after all special interest driven politicians and only a few have ever dared to go against the Israeli lobby i.e. AJC, ADL, AIPAC. J-Street, etc. The corporate media has ignored the issue and questions  for decades. Who are they really serving?

How many IDF soldiers have died or been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Global War on Terror?  (After all, our justification for the  neoconservatives’  war in Iraq was based on  nonexistent WMD’s that were never found yet it ended the suicide bombers of Israel that  Saddam paid  at a cost of nearly 5000 U S dead and 2+ trillion dollars so far. We are now a tripwire for future wars for years to come while we bankrupt ourselves.) It’s funny, I’m old enough to remember people, government think tanks, wonks and  officials justifying  the higher and higher US aid to Israel as it being still  cheaper than placing US troops on the ground, etc. and that Israel was our ‘aircraft carrier in the ME  and all the other interventionist nonsense.

And who is pushing the “On to Tehran!”. “Protect Israel’s nuclear monopoly”, “Iran is evil blah blah” in the Middle East jingoism the hardest?

Which country has really benefited the most?

Who has done the least?

Even the tiny island nation of Fiji has lost one  soldier. Yet 8-9 years plus later, Israel watches  knowing others are making her secure, fighting her mortal enemies with no costs to pay. It’s a hell of a deal. And AIPAC  dollars and our Knesset in Washington DC  see that it continues.

Who continues to get carte blanche benefits, aid , military hardware, money in the billions without even a  debate on the costs/benefits?

Who still spies on the US with impunity? Whose prosecution gets dropped because “we still don’t want to embarrass our ally”?

Where is the mainstream media?  Is the subject that ‘Taboo’?  Is investigative journalism and integrity that cheap?

It was institutionalized as soon as LBJ/McNamara recalled the Sixth Fleet  rescue planes with the IDF torpedo boats still heading to attack  the USS Liberty.  With an exorbitantly expensive ungrateful duplicitous  ally like Israel, who needs enemies?

Why are we making Israel’s enemies our own? or conducting Israel’s  foreign policy with our blood and treasure?

It all started June 8, 1967 and it explains why there has never been a honest investigation of the Liberty attack by Congress.
