dear editor,
Every Memorial Day, we are treated to the spectacle of politicians at all levels of government, from Federal to local, wrapping themselves in the flag and giving flowery speeches on behalf of America’s fallen heroes.
Now there is nothing wrong with memorializing veterans, they should be remembered. What I find particularly galling is that no one asks why they had to die, that is to say, why did we become involved in all these wars throughout our history?
To even ask the question is considered “unpatriotic” by some. I wouldn’t even expect most political leaders to ask it; they aren’t smart enough to ask it, for the most part!
The media opinion molders, the historians and educators, and I suppose even the clergy should be asking these questions, but by and large, they don’t. Are they afraid of being labeled a “revisionist historian” or a believer in “the conspiracy theory of history?”
I guess they figure its best to “play it safe” and just regurgitate the same “Establishment approved” versions of history, rather than engage in unapproved independent thinking that might hurt or end their careers in academia.
The American Civil War and World War II are two events that it is a definite “no-no” to question. Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt are almost godlike to the “respectable” writers who wish to stay employed.
“There is an unwritten law in our supposed “land of the free” that says that certain topics aren’t open for discussion or debate. One small example of this would be the deaths of 34 US Navy personnel in 1967. No, not in Vietnam killed by the Communist forces, but rather in the Middle East killed by our wonderful little ally, Israel!
The 34 sailors who died were from the crew of the USS Liberty, a ship Israel tried to sink and make it look like the Egyptians did it. This was during the Six Day War of June 1967.”
President Johnson did his best to cover up for Israel’s attack, as did top Navy officials, including Senator John McCain’s father, who was Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Naval forces in Europe at the time.
Have you ever heard of the attack on the USS Liberty from anyone in the media or the government? Have you ever heard it mentioned at a Memorial Day service or on Veterans Day in November?
If you want to find out why you haven’t been told these things, I would urge you to contact First Amendment Books at fab@americanfreepress.net, they will be more than happy to let you see their current book and video selection on the USS Liberty incident, plus other events that you have either been “kept in the dark” on or lied to outright by our “leaders.”
If you really wish to honor our veterans on Memorial Day, then be a real American and stand up and ask questions and think on your own!
If you don’t, then their deaths truly will have been for nothing!
